Island Guides

There’s always something to do on Exuma. Swim, fish, snorkel, scuba-dive, befriend a swimming pig, work on your tan, mingle with the locals—or simply do nothing at all. The Good Life is yours to cultivate as you choose.

Great Exuma is just 37 miles long, making it easy to explore by car. Discover the markets and restaurants of Georgetown, seek out the secluded beach of your dreams, or admire the crystal- clear waters of Elizabeth and Moriah Harbours. Consider a boating excursion through the Exuma Cays, where you’ll see a diverse array of marine life and breathtaking views in every direction. Cruise over to Stocking Island, the largest barrier island to Great Exuma’s east and a wonderful spot for swimming and beach-combing. Have lunch at the Chat N Chill or St. Francis Resort before making your way back across the harbour.

While the diving is some of the best in the world and the fishing opportunities are endless, there’s still much to explore if you prefer to stay on dry land while visiting Exuma. Comb the beaches for treasures, take a stroll along the shoreline of your choice, or hike the trails of Stocking Island. A navy beacon in the center of the island was once used as a marker for ships, but today it serves as a summit for enjoying amazing views. Photographers and birdwatchers alike find these trails to be a paradise all their own.

Of course, no beach vacation would be complete without ample downtime. Relax at your accommodations, sprawl out on a quiet beach, or become an honorary local at a favorite watering hole. The sunsets are lovely from Catch a Fire grill, and Eddies Edgewater is a popular spot for both visitors and locals thanks to the festive atmosphere and delicious jerk chicken.
